Sancho Takes Subtle Dig at Ten Hag During Chelsea Unveiling

Jadon Sancho, the 24-year-old winger, has made a dramatic move to Stamford Bridge, leaving behind Manchester United on a loan deal that includes an obligation for Chelsea to make the transfer permanent next summer.

As Sancho spoke to the club’s media for the first time, it was hard not to notice a subtle jab at his former manager, Erik ten Hag, as he expressed his excitement about joining Chelsea.

The transfer, announced on Saturday night, marks a significant shift in Sancho’s career. Chelsea’s official statement read, “Chelsea is pleased to announce Jadon Sancho has joined the club on loan from Manchester United, with the Blues having an obligation to sign the England international permanently next summer. Having completed his switch to Stamford Bridge, Jadon will join his new teammates in the coming days. Welcome to Chelsea, Jadon!”

Sancho’s comments during his first interview as a Chelsea player seemed to highlight a stark contrast between his experiences at Manchester United and his expectations at Chelsea.

Sancho Teases Ten Hag’s Tactics, Eager for Fresh Start at Chelsea

When asked about his decision to join the Blues, Sancho stated, “I think it’s the manager who really drew me to the project. I knew him from his time with Pep Guardiola in Manchester City. He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself, it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

His enthusiasm for the playing style under Chelsea’s management was palpable, as he elaborated, “I enjoy his style of play. The wingers, when they get on the ball, he loves them to go one versus one and be direct. We play a lot of one-twos with the 10s and the striker combination plays. It’s very attractive and it’s a style that I play.”

Sancho also expressed his eagerness to contribute to the team, saying, “They’re signing me for a reason and to contribute to the team, and I’m ready to do that.”

The winger, who had a tumultuous time at Manchester United, seems eager to turn a new leaf at Chelsea, where he reunites with familiar faces like Tosin Adarabioyo and Cole Palmer from his Manchester City days.

“I know Tosin and Cole Palmer – he was younger than me when I was at City. I haven’t had a chance to speak to them yet, but I’m sure I will soon. They’re going to be looking out for me, I’m sure,” he added.

As he embarks on this new chapter, Sancho made it clear that he intends to bring flair and excitement to Stamford Bridge, stating, “I want to bring goals and assists. I’m a skilful player, and I want to bring excitement to the Bridge. Hopefully, it will turn out well.”
