Richarlison aims a dig at Arsenal’s defender Gabriel following Tottenham clash

Tottenham striker Richarlison mocked Arsenal defender Gabriel on social media after colliding with his Brazil national team colleague during the north London derby.

Mikel Arteta’s team emerged victorious, extending their charge for the Premier League title with a 3-2 win at their arch-rivals’ home.

Richarlison, returning from injury, came on as a second-half substitute and immediately influenced the game with his physical presence up front. Although Tottenham managed to pull two goals back through Cristian Romero and a Son Heung-min penalty, setting up a tense finish, Arsenal held on for the win.

Shortly after Richarlison entered the game, he collided with Gabriel, leaving the Arsenal defender on the ground.

This incident caught the referee’s attention, and Richarlison was shown a yellow card for his shoulder barge. However, he seemed unfazed by the consequences.

A Tottenham supporter shared a video on social media showing the confrontation between Richarlison and Gabriel, along with the caption: “Brazil’s top striker vs Brazil’s least favored CB.”

Richarlison reposted the clip, mocking his compatriot, who, despite emerging as one of the league’s top defenders, has earned just six caps for his country.

In contrast, Richarlison has represented Brazil 48 times, scoring 20 goals in the process.

At full-time, the two players could be seen confronting each other on the pitch, while Gabriel and his Arsenal teammates celebrated in the corner with their traveling fans, maintaining their position at the top of the table.

The Brazilian national team, including Richarlison, may not see Gabriel as a standout defensive option, but in north London, the perspective is quite different.

He has developed a strong partnership with William Saliba, and there are reportedly ongoing negotiations to offer the 26-year-old a lucrative new contract.

The Daily Mail reports that initial discussions have begun to extend Gabriel’s contract, which still has two years remaining. This extension comes as a reward for his excellent performances.

At the beginning of the season, there were doubts about his future at the club, especially with interest from Saudi Arabia. However, Gabriel has proven to be essential under Arteta.

Nevertheless, when the Brazilian national team gathers this summer for the Copa America preparations, including friendlies against Mexico and the United States in June, Richarlison’s social media activity might lead to an awkward reunion between the two stars.

Gabriel withdrew from the squad for the March friendlies against England and Spain but is expected to be included in Dorival Junior’s squad for the upcoming international tournament alongside Richarlison.

This reunion could lead to discussions between the two players, following their on-field incident and subsequent social media exchanges involving the Spurs player.
