Manchester City Icon Emerges as Surprise Successor to Roberto De Zerbi Following Shock Brighton Departure

Vincent Kompany, renowned for his time at Manchester City and now coaching Burnley, is being considered as a potential replacement for Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton.

Kompany, who had a stellar playing career at City, transitioned into management with RSC Anderlecht after leaving Manchester in 2019.

He then took on the challenge of managing Burnley in 2022, leading them to promotion in his inaugural season at Turf Moor.

Vincent Kompany, a revered figure at Manchester City and currently leading Burnley as head coach, is being considered as a potential successor to Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton.

Kompany, renowned for his distinguished career at Manchester City where he amassed 360 appearances and captained the team to 12 trophies over 11 years, ventured into management with RSC Anderlecht after departing Manchester in 2019, having achieved a domestic quadruple.

Returning to the northwest in 2022, Kompany took the reins at Burnley, guiding them back to the Premier League in his debut season. Despite this success, Burnley faces relegation to the Championship next season.

While Kompany expressed intentions to stay at Burnley, the possibility of managing in the top-flight again arises as he emerges as a candidate to fill the vacancy left by De Zerbi at Brighton. De Zerbi announced his departure from Brighton after two years, leaving the club following their upcoming match against Manchester United.

Reportedly, former captain of the Sky Blues, Kompany, is being considered as one of the candidates to take over from De Zerbi at Brighton.

Sacha Tavolieri suggests that Belgian, Kieran McKenna, and Russel Martin are all seen as potential successors by officials at AMEX.

De Zerbi, who is departing, has previously been rumored as a possible future manager at Manchester City, especially considering Pep Guardiola’s contract situation at the Etihad Stadium.

De Zerbi’s next managerial destination remains uncertain, but he could potentially step into Thomas Tuchel’s shoes at Bayern Munich.
