Man City in Talks with Kylian Mbappe’s Agents as Club Enters the Race for Star Player
Manchester City has entered the race to sign Kylian Mbappe and has already spoken with his agents, according to reports in Spain.
Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer, putting some of Europe’s top clubs on high alert.
Mbappe has long been expected to join Real Madrid, but recent reports suggest that the La Liga giants are unable to reach an agreement on wages.
As a result, a number of other clubs have expressed an interest in the Frenchman, with Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly considering deals for him.
Real Madrid remain in pole position to sign Mbappe, but the 25-year-old is expected to ‘willingly join’ Arsenal to follow in the footsteps of Thierry Henry.
Arsenal, on the other hand, is unwilling to break their wage structure in order to sign the World Cup winner, as is Liverpool.
According to Spanish radio network , a third Premier League team has entered the race: Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning side.
City is believed to have met with Mbappe’s representatives on Monday to discuss a possible transfer to the Etihad.
It remains to be seen whether City will be able to make an offer to rival Real Madrid, or if the player will drop his demands to consider a move to Arsenal or Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta hopes Arsenal are in the running to sign Mbappe, but admits Real Madrid is the most likely destination for the PSG superstar.
