Haaland Rebukes Sky Presenter After Arsenal Slip-Up Comment: ‘Choose Your Words Wisely’
Arsenal fans watched with a sense of inevitability as Erling Haaland continued his goal-scoring frenzy, netting a hat-trick during Manchester City’s 3-1 win against West Ham United on Saturday evening.
This marks back-to-back hat-tricks for Haaland, who has already scored seven Premier League goals, and it’s not even the end of September.
As Manchester City sits two points ahead in the Premier League standings, Arsenal’s recent stumble against Brighton only adds to the mounting pressure.
Earlier in the day, Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Brighton was marred by controversy, as star midfielder Declan Rice was sent off, leaving the Gunners two points behind City.
The red card means Rice will miss the highly anticipated North London derby against Tottenham after the international break, although he will be back in action for Arsenal’s trip to the Etihad.
The looming fixtures could see Arsenal potentially fall seven points behind the defending champions before winter even begins.
Following his latest hat-trick heroics, Haaland was interviewed by Sky Sports’ Kelly Cates, who referenced Arsenal’s earlier result.
“Erling, you started off by saying that it’s important to get the win for the team,” Cates remarked. “It’s three wins from the first three games. Man City have looked fantastic already. Arsenal dropped points earlier on today, so one rival has already slipped up.”
Haaland, however, wasn’t pleased with the way Cates described Arsenal’s draw. With a smirk on his face, he interrupted, “They haven’t slipped up yet. Don’t use these words, please.”
In response, Cates rephrased her statement, saying, “Okay, they have dropped points already so far this season, and Man City continues with that 100% start.”
Haaland’s reaction underscores the intensity of the title race between Manchester City and Arsenal. Last season, Arsenal came agonizingly close to lifting the Premier League trophy, finishing with 89 points—still not enough to surpass City.
With Manchester City starting strong this season and Haaland in top form, the challenge for Arsenal and other contenders is growing increasingly daunting.
As the season progresses, the importance of every point becomes magnified, and with Haaland and Manchester City showing no signs of slowing down, the pressure on Arsenal to keep pace has never been greater.
