Guardiola set to wave a ‘painful goodbye’ to Key player in the summer in a transfer that will ‘shake’ Man City
Reports suggest that Manchester City and Pep Guardiola could lose Kyle Walker to Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.
Last summer, the former Sheffield United right-back was linked with a move to Bavaria, with Thomas Tuchel reportedly making him a priority signing.
There were even reports suggesting that the English player wanted to speak directly to Guardiola about his wish to depart from Manchester City.
Walker remained at Manchester City after signing a new three-year contract last September, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2026.
There are renewed rumors about Walker’s future, with Bayern Munich reportedly planning to revive their interest in him during the next transfer window.
Despite being 33 years old, Walker continues to be a key player for Pep Guardiola’s team as they pursue a domestic double. Manchester City’s Champions League campaign ended in the quarter-finals with a penalty shootout loss to Real Madrid, thwarting their hopes of winning back-to-back trebles.
However, according to the Spanish publication Nacional, Guardiola is reportedly preparing to bid a ‘painful farewell’ to Walker this summer in a move that will have a significant impact on Manchester City.
It is believed that Bayern Munich is poised to make a return bid for the player who they believe is a perfect fit for them. They are keen on acquiring ‘one of Guardiola’s key players’ and are still interested in Kyle Walker. Nacional reports that Bayern has successfully persuaded the defender to join them next season.
Man City face additional concerns as they are accused of violating the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, with 115 charges against them.
Premier League CEO Richard Masters announced that the case would be heard soon, stating, “We can’t comment on the case, but the date has been set. The matter will be resolved in the near future, and I cannot provide any further comment at this time.”
According to Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke, there is speculation that Man City could potentially be demoted to the Championship as a consequence of the 115 charges, although relegation to League Two seems unlikely.
Despite the accusations, Man City maintains they have not breached any rules. However, the maximum punishment they could face is believed to be relegation to the Championship.
