Former Everton Winger Arnaut Danjuma Pitches Himself to Liverpool as Transfer Buzz Grows
Former Tottenham and Everton winger, Arnaut Danjuma, has made a bold offer to Liverpool, expressing his desire to join the Premier League giants, even after a relatively subdued career trajectory. The 27-year-old Netherlands international has struggled to make an impact in his recent loan spells, but his ambition to play at the highest level remains undiminished.
Danjuma, who currently finds himself on loan at La Liga side Girona, revealed in an interview with ESPN Netherlands that he would not hesitate to accept an offer from Liverpool, despite his history with their fierce rivals, Everton. “As a player, you have to be ambitious and if a big club comes, you should always consider it. I don’t think there will be many people sitting at the table there who will say no to Liverpool,” Danjuma said candidly.
The winger, who made headlines with his performances for Villarreal after a €25 million (£20.8m) transfer in 2021, was once a hot prospect, attracting interest from several top clubs. Danjuma’s first season at Villarreal was nothing short of impressive, bagging 16 goals and four assists in 34 appearances, which catapulted him into the spotlight. Despite this success, subsequent loan stints at Tottenham, Everton, and now Girona have been less fruitful, leaving Danjuma searching for a new opportunity.
Intriguingly, Danjuma also revealed that current Liverpool manager Arne Slot had previously shown interest in him during Slot’s tenure at Feyenoord. “Feyenoord had shown a bit more interest in me [in 2023]. That was mainly when Slot was the coach there. I considered it at the time and spoke to Slot. I am a fan of his style of play and have a lot of confidence in him as a coach,” Danjuma added, highlighting a connection that could potentially reignite transfer speculation.
While Liverpool’s midfield remains a topic of discussion following their failed pursuit of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, Danjuma’s offer to join the Reds comes at an interesting time. Although the likelihood of a move seems slim given his recent form, Danjuma remains optimistic that a fresh start could be on the horizon.
