Liverpool’s transfer strategy in the upcoming windows could face a major shake-up, with growing speculation surrounding their top players. Rumours of potential exits and new signings are swirling, but one recent report involving Darwin Nunez and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has caught particular attention. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, these rumours are entirely unfounded.

The chatter about Liverpool possibly selling Darwin Nunez to Atletico Madrid, while simultaneously pursuing Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, has sparked a frenzy among fans. Nunez, who joined Liverpool for a hefty £64 million fee, has struggled to live up to expectations. Now in his third season with the Reds, he’s had limited impact under new manager Arne Slot, aside from a standout goal against Bournemouth. If his form doesn’t improve, many believe it could spell the end of his Anfield career.

However, Romano firmly dismissed the idea of any negotiations for Nunez to leave or for Rodrygo to arrive. Speaking in his Daily Briefing on Wednesday, the transfer expert stated, “It’s difficult for me even to comment on the Rodrygo and Darwin Nunez rumours, guys… I don’t even know where these links are coming from.”

Romano continued to clarify that there has been no contact between the clubs. “Nunez to Atletico Madrid, Rodrygo to Liverpool… trust me, now it’s all completely quiet. There are no negotiations or talks for these players,” he emphasized.

Nunez, despite being a fan favourite, hasn’t quite delivered the performances Liverpool hoped for, leading to doubts about his long-term future at the club. With just two years left on his contract after this season, Liverpool might soon face a tough decision. Atletico Madrid, having recently invested €75 million on Julian Alvarez, would likely have the financial muscle to make a serious bid for Nunez, especially if his struggles continue.

As for Rodrygo, Romano’s dismissal of the rumour is unequivocal. “Rodrygo also extended his Real Madrid contract less than one year ago and he’s only focused on Real Madrid. That’s it, nothing more to say,” he concluded.

For now, both players remain firmly entrenched in their respective clubs, but as transfer windows loom, the rumour mill will undoubtedly continue to churn.
