Arsenal Prepares for Premier League Trophy Ceremony in Case of Unexpected Man City Downfall
Arsenal have been seen practicing a mock trophy lift in preparation for potentially winning the 2023/24 Premier League title.
The Gunners still have a slim chance to secure their first title in 20 years on the final day of the season. Mikel Arteta’s team is currently two points behind Manchester City.
To win the title, Arsenal must defeat Everton and hope that West Ham can at least draw with Pep Guardiola’s team in their respective final matches. Despite the need for this scenario to play out, the club appears to be getting ready for a possible celebration.
A video shared on social media shows club staff standing on the winners’ podium next to the trophy. They were also seen collecting fake medals, similar to what the players would do if the North London club were crowned champions.
A large banner bearing the word ‘Champions’ was placed on the pitch. In preparation for the final day, the Premier League has made special arrangements.
A trophy will be available at both the Emirates Stadium and the Etihad Stadium, with a skilled engraver ready to inscribe the name of the winning team. Identical sets of medals will also be sent to each venue for presentation.
Rehearsals for the trophy ceremony have already been conducted, and Arsenal has announced an open-top bus parade through Islington, scheduled for Monday, May 20.
Ahead of the crucial match against West Ham, Arteta has voiced his ambition to secure the trophy. In his pre-match press conference, he remarked, “This is one of the most significant weeks for many of us, and right now is the most crucial moment. I’m incredibly excited and eagerly anticipating Sunday, feeling very hopeful about the potential outcome.”
Arteta continued, “We had hoped for a different result, but now we must focus on our task, which will be challenging because Everton are performing well. We need to demonstrate once again that we can outperform our opponents and win the game.
“After that, we need to hope for the best and for West Ham to have an excellent day, helping us to realize our dream. That’s what we’re counting on.”
When asked if he believes Man City might drop points, the Arsenal manager responded, “We all know they are closer because they have one less game to play and will be at home, but they face a very tough opponent.
“We have struggled against them this season and in previous seasons; they are hard to beat. I’m sure they will put up a strong fight, and hopefully, they can help us achieve our dream.”
