Arsenal Enter Race for 20-Goal Striker Victor Osimhen: Is the Move Finally Happening?

Arsenal have entered the competition to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu from Sports Digitale. The striker, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, is expected to return to Napoli this summer, prompting interest from several top clubs. Arsenal are now in the running alongside Manchester United, both of whom appear to be ahead of Chelsea, despite the Blues’ previous connections to the player.

Osimhen, available for €75m (£61.9m), is a target for big clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, and PSG, though Galatasaray likely cannot afford this price. Since joining Galatasaray on loan, Osimhen has been in excellent form, netting 20 goals in 27 appearances, as well as contributing five assists. His impressive performances include a brace against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League and several goals in four appearances for Nigeria during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Despite this, there is some skepticism about Arsenal’s potential interest, given that they didn’t pursue the striker in January, even with Gabriel Jesus injured and Kai Havertz struggling. Charles Watts had reported in October that Osimhen’s contract contained a break clause that would have allowed him to leave in January. It remains unclear whether Osimhen could have been available for the same €75m price in January, which could explain why Arsenal may have delayed their pursuit until the summer.

Ultimately, Arsenal’s failure to make a move in January leaves room for doubt about their current interest, but with Osimhen’s strong performances, it is clear why top clubs are eyeing him for the summer.
