Alejandro Garnacho Seeks Barcelona Transfer After Growing Disillusioned at Manchester United
Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly grown frustrated with his situation under manager Erik ten Hag and is said to have “offered himself” to Barcelona as he contemplates a move away from Old Trafford. According to Spanish reports, the 20-year-old Argentine, who was once hailed as one of United’s brightest prospects, is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his limited role under Ten Hag.
United have had a tough start to the 2024/25 season, managing just two wins from their first seven Premier League games, and currently find themselves sitting 14th in the table with a mere eight points. With mounting pressure on Ten Hag, club executives are expected to assess the Dutchman’s future during the ongoing international break.
Garnacho, who has only made a handful of starts this season, is reportedly frustrated with the lack of opportunities to prove himself. He is said to be “fed up” with Ten Hag’s handling of him and does not understand why he is consistently taken off early during matches. The young winger feels that he is a potent attacking option, capable of offering more to the team if given the chance.
In addition to his on-field frustrations, Garnacho is reportedly unhappy with the way Manchester United have handled his development since signing a new contract. Sources close to the player claim that he was promised more regular playing time, as well as the chance to compete for major titles and consistently feature in the Champions League. However, with the team’s current struggles, those promises have not been met, leaving Garnacho disillusioned.
The Argentine’s dissatisfaction has led him to explore a potential exit from Manchester United, with Barcelona reportedly being one of the clubs he has approached. Despite Garnacho’s interest, the Catalan club is not keen on adding him to their ranks at the moment, as reinforcing their forward positions is not a priority.
Adding to the uncertainty, Garnacho recently withdrew from international duty with Argentina due to a knee injury, further complicating his current situation.
